Safari: The Journey That Finds You

Safari Subheadline

"There's a moment on every safari when the world goes quiet. You're watching the light change across the savanna, maybe a lion in the distance, and you realize why this place has called to people for generations."

A safari is the kind of trip you plan for your whole life. It's the bucket-list experience that deserves to be done right; not rushed, not compromised, not left to chance. Whether you dream of the Serengeti's great migration, the intimate wildlife of the Okavango Delta, or the untamed beauty of the African bush, I partner with trusted local operators and expert guides to build a safari that matches your vision.

I don't do one-size-fits-all. Some travelers want luxury lodges with five-star service and gourmet meals under the stars. Others want to be closer to the land in intimate tented camps, waking to birdsong and the smell of acacia trees. Some want adventure; some want comfort. And if you want to capture Africa through a camera lens, I can arrange photography-focused guides and timing for professional-quality shots. Whatever your safari looks like, I'll coordinate the details so you can focus on what matters, the experience itself.

Safari Experiences:

  • Luxury Lodge Safari: World-class accommodations, exceptional cuisine, and private guides. Immersed in the African landscape without sacrificing comfort.
  • Tented Camp Safari: Intimate camps in the heart of the bush. Wake to wildlife sounds, dine under stars, feel truly part of the landscape.
  • Mixed Experience Safari: Combine lodge and camp across different regions with varied activities. Depth and diversity in one trip.
Safari Experiences
  • Train Safari: Luxury rail journeys through iconic African landscapes with safari stops built in. Travel in style, experience Africa from a unique vantage point.
  • River Safari: River cruises on Africa's great waterways; the Nile, Zambezi, and others. Wildlife viewing from the water with the comfort of a cruise.

When to go...

Dry Season

(June–October)

Best wildlife viewing; animals gather at waterholes, grass is shorter, visibility is clear. Most popular time, higher prices.
My Take:
This is when most first-timers go, and for good reason. You'll see more animals in a single day than many people see in a lifetime. The light is crisp, temperatures are cooler, and your guide can spot wildlife from miles away. If wildlife sightings are your priority, this is your window.
Watch out for: Book early - accommodations fill up fast. Expect crowds at popular lodges and viewpoints. Prices peak during this season, so budget accordingly. Also, the lack of water sources means animals are predictable, which takes some of the spontaneity out of it.

Wet Season

(November–May)

Fewer tourists, lush landscapes, incredible birdwatching, lower prices. Animals disperse more, but the scenery is stunning.
My Take:  Underrated season. You'll have Africa more to yourself, and the light is magical. Those golden hour sunsets hit different when the landscape is green and alive. The birding is world-class. Plus, you'll pay 30–40% less for the same experiences. If you're flexible and don't need to see every species, this season rewards adventurers.
Watch out for:  Some roads become difficult to access; heavy rains can close certain areas. You have to be ok with plans that have flexibility and have backup plans. Animals are harder to find (they have water everywhere), so sightings are less predictable.

Great Migration

(July–October)

Witnessing millions of wildebeest crossing the Serengeti is bucket-list iconic. Timing depends on weather and animal movement; unpredictable but unforgettable.
My Take:
Worth planning for if it's your dream, but don't let it be your only option. The crossing itself lasts minutes; the experience lasts forever. Not every trip aligns with the migration, and that's okay. A safari is still incredible without it.
Watch out for: Exact timing varies year to year; so we'll position you strategically. However, if the migration doesn't happen on your dates, don't panic; you'll still see wildlife in abundance. This period overlaps with peak dry season pricing, so expect premium costs.

Who it's for...

You're the dreamer who's always wanted to experience an African safari. You understand this is a once-in-a-lifetime (or once-in-a-decade) trip and you're ready to invest in doing it right. You want an expert who knows Africa, who has connections on the ground, and who will handle every detail so you can just show up and be present. First-time or repeat, your safari matters and so does the planning.
